Palestinian designers and developers start solar power loading station in Gaza

Gaza’s Omar Al Mokhtar street .. al Samer area ,, Al Shawa building … floor 1 is the venue where a group of young Palestinian designers and developers will meet on Monday, January 12th, 2015 to kickstart the Solargaza campaign.
Hopeful but realistic is the best way to describe the young Palestinians who are spearheading the solargaza campaign in Gaza City, which aims at getting solar power units into Gaza .
This international people’s campaign is a humanitarian effort to restore electricity in the shelters , tents and homes of people in Gaza who were severely hit by last summer’s bombardments on Gaza . The Unprecedented Israeli attack on Gaza destroyed thousands of homes and cost the lives of more than 2200 people. The electricity power station was severely hit resulting in prolonged electricity cuts in Gaza .
In spite of multiple unimaginably huge obstacles Naji Abu-Shaaban , industrial and management engineer of the Jerusalem Development Fund NGO and his Gaza team, managed to find solutions in Gaza. They start and run the first solarpower loading station for laptops and mobile phone batteries in Gaza. At 8 o’clock the Gaza team takes the first floor of Shawa building to set up a solar power station . The coming months the Gaza team will inform the public about the use of solar power and raise awareness about electricity powered by the sun. The campaign hub in Palestine will be the base for international solargaza campaigners who work very hard to get solar units into Gaza.
Although it is hard to imagine today, the use of solar power might soon safe lives in Gaza as more people in need will be able to have heating and water pumps driven by solar energy. However the campaign cannot succeed if global support does not come for Gaza. The public is therefore encouraged to donate solar power and to help fund this people’s campaign. Doctors want to see solar power for their hospitals , teachers want to see solar power for their schools, homeless want to see solar power in their shelters but more than anything Gaza city no longer wants to be in the dark. For donations and information contact @GazaNaji or @soektsa on twitter, email najiabushabaan@gmail.com or soektsa@gmail.com or call Naji Abu-Shaaban tel 00970599499494 in Gaza.

borders, how to get demonstrate and and shipped into Gaza and how to get these donations operational in Gaza homes and shelters.
